First Appointment and Forms

To prepare for your first appointment, you may wish to...

  • Make a timeline of major events from your life

    • If you like, you can make a rough sketch of a timeline of major events that have shaped you, that relate to a problem that concerns you, or a situation you would like to talk about. If you write out the background to the difficulties that bring you to counseling, we may have more time to discuss solutions.
    • Making a timeline can help you organize your thoughts around what you want to tell me during the first session, and I may need to ask you fewer questions to get the information I need to help you. Making a rough sketch of a timeline is an activity adults may enjoy, but it is not something I suggest you ask your teen to do before the first session.
